last weekend. (because i didnt write about it last week and theres not much to write about this weekend)

so. kyra and phil came down last sunday to see if we wanted to go fishing. it was pretty cold so i thought id suggest going for shitty carp just for fun (which seemed easy as pie when we went last time, they bit hard and often that day) near th zoo, which people seemed happy with at the time
so we went.
and apparantly, so had the carp.
(if you look hard enough at that tree theres a magpie nest with two baby magpies in it somewhere, mum kept coming back to feed them and they would stick their heads out all chirpy like but shitty mummy magpie kept taking off everytime i got my stupid camera out.)
so we basically hung around there joking about how much crap was in th torrens (hahaha if you re-arrange crap you get carp lmao) for half th afternoon before some idiot mentioned th cave and then plans seemed to change.
so we went up to th cave for a drive.
it was really green up there, all the bulbs and annuals were starting to flower, if anything it was a bit overgrown, but i noticed there werent many sweet peas around this year (which is a good thing as they choked everything else there and became a huge fire hazard come summertime.)
the cave path was fairly overgrown but there were signs of someone having been there recently.
me and kyra begged the boys to dig up various plants (not natives, escaped european garden plants mainly, like watsonia, arum lily and th like) for our gardens so we ended up going home with a bucket full of gardening material lol
and of course mick had to find an animal (he cant seem to do anything without finding an animal) and then so did kyra. so we ended up bringing home a couple of frogs which got added to the frog pond out th back.
saw the sunset as we drove back home down to the city. awesome.

i did see two chargers in two days last week though, i thought that was pretty trippy.
day one
day two
i have a charger..
..badge.
now i just need th chassis, engine and interior to go with it lmao

long time, no post..

well i havent been here for a little while now, my life has been semi falling apart and i havent felt like writing anything. Or eating anything for that matter. I figure i better either save this blog now or it is destined to become yet more dead space on th internet. So here goes a half assed attempt at a post..
2 weeks ago me and scott decided that we cant go on the way we are and maybe we are better off just as friends. I dont know if this is a temporary thing or if its more permanant. I guess only time will tell. Neither of us can afford to move out, which kinda sucks cos its kinda wierd. Im basically a single parent with a housemate. Ive been staying with my mate th last 2 weekends so we can have our own space but with mikael going to school i have to use th house as a 'base' during th week. Unfortunately my idea of 'if im not here, he will miss me' doesnt seem to be working. But you get that.
Last week one of th torrens weirs opened on its own, th guard heard th siren and did th manual override to shut th gate but it jammed open. So basically th torrens lost its guts to th sea. Would have been awesome to see. Mick took me for a walk sunday night to have a look, we parked near th old gaol and walked along th river to hackney in th park lands. It was a heaps nice walk. We crossed over and did th other side for th way back. God knows how many bicycles we saw in th mud, and chairs?! and shopping trolleys. We saw a moped, it fully looked like someone just paralell parked it on th river bottom at th base of th wall! Wierd. On a more morbid note, we found a backpack with somebodys animal skeleton in it but we missed out on seeing th car. It was in th paper a car had been discovered buried in th mud on th river bottom. Th mud was up to its windows! Im wondering how th hell for starters, nobody noticed it, how it got so far off th bank (what, they set up a ramp or something) and how it got so deep in th mud! By th time we got there theyd removed it so all we got to see was th massive deep gouge mark cutting across th mud. There were many dead carp, which could only be a good thing, and a few shallow puddles with huge carp swimming in circles with their backs out of th water. Th whole river wasnt empty as such, but it certainly had dropped a hell of a lot and th king william st fountain was high and dry, along with th paddleboats and th popeyes. Im having trouble uploading pics using my phone internet or id share.
Monday mick messaged me and asked if i wanted to go carp fishing after he finished work, id never been before and Q was telling me recently that its alot of fun so i thought why not! I figured if i caught anything, put them in th freezer n its crab bait for wallaroo next weekend :) we ended up getting 13. Of course he got 9 of those, but i got th biggest! Today im doing washing and cleaning up around here, since im not here on th weekends th place looks trashed by monday. And i wasnt here last nite either so here it is tuesday n th place is still trashed.
Washing machines calling, bye! :)

january kinda sucks

well it has been rather hot here lately, most days have been hitting nearly 40c and we havent had a day under 30c in what feels like a lifetime.
the other day i was in my garden and my thermometer in the shade under the bottlebrush said 48c - i knew nobody would believe me so heres proof..
we have been doing anything to get out of the house, having no air conditioning it seems better to sweat it out outside and hope theres a slight breeze.
mikael went to my mums for the weekend which was good, her house has air con so at least the boy was comfortable.

Mick came down saturday and we took his petrol car down to the golfcourse, we were hoping to catch a few freshwater prawns for his fishtank like we caught for mine last week, so we took the yabby nets too. lucky we did or we would have been majorly bored, mick broke the pull cord on th car so there went that idea. we ended up catching 33 yabbies and more freaking prawns than we could count so we decided wed keep them and freeze most of them to see if they would be any good as bait. why not.
i put a fish in the tank last week that we caught from there, not realising it was a biological hazard.
after closer inspection i realized it looked a little like the terminator and that these white stick things were also growing out of my fish, so i rang aggies aquariums and after describing the offending fish he told me it was infected with parasitic worms. fucking hoo-ray.
so he told me to take the fish out onto a damp towel and use tweezers to hold th worm so we could burn th end of them and they would apparantly let go. yeh right. i am the most squeemish person ever and after trying a couple of times rather panickly and unsuccessfully (is panickly even a word??) i decided i would get somebody else to do it.

so saturday after we got home from yabbying (at like 2am) i told mick about it. being the ultra nice guy that he is, he offered to do it (mission accomplished!)
mate. those things that came out of those fish. good god, it looked like something out of alien. poor fish. needless to say, any fish i catch in the yabby nets from now on can go back into the water they came from. thank god these parasites dont affect crustaceans. so heres a photo of what the awful things looked like. i left the photo huge so you can look at in detail if you wish...
just click on th photo

Sunday we went for a cruise to garden island. so heres a couple of photos..

well i am going outside now to attempt to put this pool up so we have some way to keep cool.
wish me luck with that.

witches, pumpkins and black cats. oh and an update..

happy halloween!!

well as you would expect life has been dragging on like it does and will until it doesnt anymore (boy that makes sense) nothing special or out of th ordinary that i can think of off th top of my head, good time to choose to write a post hey xD (i think its got more to do with th fact that i have nothing to do at this point in time, thus giving me th chance to clog up th internet some more with my randoms)

went fishing on saturday. caught nothing. though did get out of the house (and out of town) for the day which was a bonus. took th dog, which was not a bonus. funny how things seem like such a good idea at the time and then when th event is actually taking place there are a million quite obvious reasons why th idea would never have worked.
you see, she thought it would be a great idea to swim right where we were fishing. regardless of th fact there was a massive expanse of bank that we had to ourselves. this was the first in a long list of obvious reasons why th dog does not make a good fishing companion. that and th fact that th flies wouldnt leave her alone (cant put aeroguard on a dog) so she was a bit stressed and kept voicing so. for once, th kid was more controllable than th dog. hallejula.
sunday we took th dog and th kid to st kilda so we could all have some fun. you would think that we would have learnt that th dog is no fun th day before hey. there were way many people there n th dog was way excited. bad combination. so basically, i got stuck holding th dog most th time while scott took kael off to play. kyra n phil met us there with their little monster and after a while everyone else went home to make dinner presumably so we stayed on for some private park time lol

th telstar (wanna be 4wd) died last week. well actually to be truthful, it didnt die, though it did get badly injured and was not worth spending any more money on. th rego was due to run out in a few days so we drove her into th ground, getting every last cent of rego out of her before driving it to th wreckers pissing out smoke from everywhere, on its last day of rego. they gave us $150 for it and we then went and put that money into th rego money for th vn. problem solvered.

washed her ready for her return to th road and all lol
got a new phone that has a much better camera than my old one so hopefully my shots will be better quality (not that anybody but me cares) although now i do have to downscale the images before uploading them as im sure nobody wants to make a wall size poster, which creates a whole lot more work for me. so be grateful :P

theres a fete at th school today. starts in an hour, so that will be fun. (for those of you who cant hear my tone in my writing, that was sarcastic) theres a fancy dress competition and mikael wants to dress as a pirate, so to humour him i said i'd take him. never know, he might even win. he makes a pretty convincing pirate.

th barina in th rearview

scott put a deposit on a red vl yesterday. its not a show car but it definately looks neat and straight and seems to run well. and for the price he is aquiring th vehicle for, even if he was complaining, which he wasnt, even i would have to tell him to can it. and i can find (almost) anything to complain about anything lmao it is pretty wierd to think that once th mazdas gone, we will only have th two commodores and th two hz's. i said wierd not bad. 4 cars is better than 6. we are buying an air compressor and sorting out th shed in th next two weeks too so that will make it possible for us to get th v8 on th road and able to drive to th shop to get a check up, which i have been wanting to do for so long but until its technically ours we cant.. so im hanging out for that. id love to see miss "blonde hair, suit, driving her boyfriends black ve commodore" playing games with me once im behind th grille of that baby. um. hope you have insurance lady.
and once th v8s in th shop and out of our shed, its time to start on th panelvan. mate that will be so much work.
obsessed mate. were both obsessed.

this is what i got scotti for fathers day last month.

oh. and i found this before.
9 telltale signs youre probably an asshole
made me laugh.

and this.
ooh. interesting. sodium. id forgotten about that shit lol

ciao! have a good day!

cats and fishing. hmm. thats an idea lol

hmm. where do i start. right now its and as much as it is sunny outside and looks warm, it isnt. so im sitting here trying to talk myself into taking the dog for a walk.
That cat still hasn't left. i dont talk to it. i dont pat it. i sure as hell dont feed it. yet it sits on my vehranda, meows at my door and stirs up my dogs by waltzing around the gates. i dont know what to do anymore. i am not a cruel person, i actually hate cruelty, yet it got to the point last week where it was trying to get in my door everytime it was opened, like it lived here. if you went out to put the rubbish in the wheelie bin without shutting the door it would sneak up on the vehranda while your back was turned and be in the door before you knew it. which would lead to yelling running races. winner was the last one out the door lol
i got that sick of this obnoxious, righteous behaviour that everytime it meowed at my door i would throw a saucepan of water on it. cold of course, im not that mean. though with the cold weather lately cold water wouldnt be my choice. this for a week straight yet it still wont go away.
im tempted to ring the council but i know they will come and collect it (and the stupid thing wouldnt run away) and it would be put down at the animal shelter. which i cant bring myself to do. most desirable outcome for this situation for everyone involved, would simply be for the cat to fuck off to wherever it was 6 weeks ago. omg i just looked up in my blog when the damn thing arrived and it was nearly 2 months ago! and all this time i fed it that first whiskas singles packet ONLY. im not feeding it. the bugger is NOT starving so it is obviously eating somewhere why does it keep coming back??? grrrrrrr!!!!!
im just going to keep ignoring it like i have.
and it will keep sleeping under my tree near the front door @!#$%*@#!$%*&*!#!

on another note, i went fishing not the weekend just gone but the weekend before.
did an all nighter it was fantastic, i havent done a fishing all nighter in years! got a call about 7 o clock from a mate who said he was fishing and did i wanna come down, at that point i wasnt sure what was happening so i said id let him know. scotti didnt want to go cos he thought it was a bit cold and he didnt want to get sick, which i was a bit spewing about so he told me to go anyway. at first i didnt want to go without him but then i thought why not, so about 8:30 i packed up my shit and went to meet mick. when i got there, it wasnt just mick but his brother as well.
we didnt catch much at west lakes and mick wanted to try somewhere else so we packed up, mark didnt want to keep fishing so he went home and we went to garden island. was pretty good at garden island, the bream were on the bite which was fun, bit of a challenge to hook the bastards though, they were being real finicky. after a while we ran out of bait so we packed up and went to the on the run on grand junction to get more bait and a hot coffee to wake us up (at this point it was about 3am and there werent many people around so we left the telstar at garden island and went in his car, i had horrible images of rocking up back there and the telstar would be gone lol)
the coffee was awesome, 5 star, definately recommend on the run cuppacinos! and we had more bait hurray! so we went back and kept fishing, the fish had fucked off cos we hadnt been there feeding them for the past half hour,
and it started to get cold about 4:30 but we persisted until about 6am when the cold got a bit much so we retreated to the car to sleep "until it was daylight so we could keep fishing"
when we woke up it was about 8:30am and the water looked amazing, so still and calm, i love that time of day, especially when youre putting the boat in for a day of fishing. i wish i had taken a photo come to think of it, it was beautiful.
mick reckoned he was tired and wanted to go home to sleep and as much as i tried to talk him into staying he wouldnt, so me having no bait of my own had to go home back to reality. and that was the end of my fishing all nighter. but i had a great time and am keenly planning the next one, waiting for some nice-ish weather again so its not too cold.
i just looked outside and mate, its windy.
ill go make a coffee and see how i feel about that walk i think. bye!

throwing a line in

just got back home about half an hour ago, got a call from a mate about 9 asking if we'd like to meet him as he was out fishing, so us not having a kid for the weekend and nothing much to do decided we would. didnt catch fuck all but it ended up being a good night.
rained a heap, and was cold and windy, but we found a spot between the mangroves where it was still and it was all good :)
mick caught a few little bream, nothing big enough to brag about, and i caught a little bream that got off my line a metre from the shoreline, and a tree.
scott got a cold lol
