praying for the day ill never see the phrase 'i heart' ever again

i dream about stabbing people wearing i heart tshirts

it seems everyone is jumping on the i heart bandwagon

five super examples of this atrocity can be found at:
number 1.
number 2.
number 3.
number 4.
number 5.

Google Web Search * Results 1 - 10 of about 5,240,000 for"i heart". (0.05 seconds)

as super smart, super talented and super gifted people as these people whot commited these atrocities are, i think they are ignorant to the fact that they are infected with i heart disease. i fear it is not long before we are all infected with this terribly contagious disease.
but not i, you will see a news report of some crazy woman breaking into NASA and stealing space shuttle atlantis, taking 12 of her friends (im not very well researched into geneology and the failure of a species, though my sister is so i should ask her how many individual dna banks needed to form a functioning species lmao) and heading off into the massive rift of space to settle new lands,
then that would be me.

hey guys... nothing.

wellllll..
I sit here trying to think of something to write and my mind is blank. (like thats not common lmao) i promised myself when i started this blog, i would do it at least semi religiously, i enjoy writing, have for years, but have had no reason to write for a long time and have gotten lazy. so this is my task to myself. i think me and my boyfriend are the only people reading it, but thats ok. hes my spell check and its all good! he picks me up constantly on my grammar but i have a rebellious streak so i ignore that criticism lmaoWe went out to dinner thursday night, regrettably i didnt get a photo of the meal as i was intending to do (but heres a 'paint drawing' instead lmao and er.. it didnt quite look like ^that) we were all too busy digging straight in to remember as the food looked amazing (as always) although i wish i had stuck with my favourite and what i like to think of the 'sports bar classic meal' the steak and chips. every single time i get steak at the waterloo, it is awesome.
Easter here was hectic as usual. the day started way too early, the boy consumed way too much chocolate and the rest of the day was spent keeping up with and constantly supervising a hyperactive 5 year old whose system was trying to deal with way too much sugar. i was so glad when he (eventually) went to sleep sunday night.
Also on sunday, scott had a mega clean up of the carport, shed and back lawn and pulled the panelvan out of the shed to suss out what we need, what we've got, and what we could do straight away. more to come on the panelvan, maybe even tomorrow. i'll go out and take a photo and 'document' what (little things) we've done already.
but for this moment in time that exists for me right now, im going to have a cup of tea before stumbling up to bed. *out*

Car trouble. Again.

Well I got the boy ready for school this morning, got up late and got ready on time which was quite amazing, anyway I walked outside, beautiful day I might add, 28c, opened the gates to the carport to get the car out,
only to find that it wouldn't start.

Instead it made a horrible noise similar to tapping a bolt on tin but much faster which freaked me out a bit not knowing what could make that sound, so I rang scott and asked him what it could be, he said "it sounds like the starter motor isn't getting enough power from the battery to start the car, you need to charge the battery with the charger in the laundry."
hmm i think, this will be fun.
I've seen people do it many times, but until this day still haven't done it by myself.
So i got everything i needed together and went about taking the terminals off the battery. There was my first problem. I couldnt find a spanner the right size or an adjustable one either so I used a pair of multigrips to undo the bolt. Success! I got the red one off, but couldnt get the multigrips to fit under the alarm box to be able to turn the bolt on the black terminal, next thing i knew there was a tschhhh! sound and the multigrips were sparking in my hand! So, I, being absolutely ignorant, paranoid and terrified of either electricity, power sources or gas, threw the multigrips and ran inside to call someone for help. (I'm such a drama queen.) I couldn't ring Scotti at work again, I didn't want to get him in trouble, so I rang my mate Mick (who I knew was on his lunchbreak) and he explained to me what would be the not-to-do's of playing with batteries and electricity. After a lengthy discussion my nerves had calmed suitably for me to try again. So I searched another of Scotts toolboxes (the bastard has many of them) and finally found a 10mill which fitted perfectly AND fitted under the alarm box. I finally managed to get the black terminal off and hook up the battery charger clamps. I nearly forgot to loosen the... hmm what are they called. 'the yellow caps on the top of the battery' so I did that, crossed my fingers and turned the on the power switch at the other end of the extension cord. Success!
At first I had a red light and an orange light and now theres a really faint green light as well so i guess that means its working.
^^I wrote that about 2pm today, sitting out the back having a smoke. I figured if it was going to blow up in a 10 meter vicinity of me, I might as well SEE it lol
no really, my mate said to "sit out the back , have a smoke and keep an eye on it" though I have no idea why
Heres a photo of my amazing skills lmao

Yes I know, my car is FILTHY.
Water Restrictions. That's my excuse.

Mmmm Chicken

I was just looking through photos from the last few months, and i found this photo of a roast chicken i made recently. (the red stuffs capsicum and the green stuffs basil leaves)
I wish it was tonights dinner, i must say it was a pretty awesome roast chicken. The photo is before it went into the oven, we were too focused on tearing it apart to serve that we forgot to take an 'after' shot lol
At least this heat wave seems to have finally broken, it might be possible to use the oven this week. After seeing this, I'm really inspired to do a roast, maybe even lamb? (But im pretty sure its going to be chicken, i can almost taste that capsicum)
Tonight its fish and chips i think. easy. bit of a letdown after writing about roasts lmao

The Sniffles

This morning when we all got up to face the new day i realised my son had the sniffles. Now for starters, how the hell does anyone get a cold when its hot as and has been for the last couple of weeks. So needless to say i didnt send him to school for fear of infecting the other kids at school and forever being looked down upon by the other mothers as "that woman who was cruel and mean and sent her child to school while ill and he proceeded to infect the whole class including my child" so now, (if only in my own imagination) i wont be "that woman." Although heres to hoping he's better tomorrow morning, because today he drove me nuts!
Apparantly Adelaide has shattered the record for longest heat wave.
"As extreme temperatures spread into other states today, the South Australian capital notched up its 11th consecutive day of 35 degrees Celsius or above to claim an unwelcome record.
And it can expect no relief for at least another six days.
The length of the heatwave surpasses the previous capital city record of 10 days above 35 degrees, recorded in Perth in February 1988"
-The Australian, March 15th 2008
and that was two days ago so i guess its been 13 now. If you want to read the whole article, its here
anyway on a lighter note, while looking for the cute germ picture above (i must say, thats the first time ive ever heard 'cute' and 'germ' in the same sentence) i found this really funny cartoon i couldnt help but check out his archives and have been laughing my ass off for the last few hours, not even realising the afternoon had been slipping away from me all along, poof! gone
If you have some time to waste and feel like a laugh check out his work.
and if you wanna buy some of his stuff, check out his stores. Theres two!
this ones for shirts, and this ones for other stuff.

Ultimate Escape Artist

my sister is having a dinner at cafe primos tonight for her birthday, i have chickened out and decided not to go as there are going to be ten of her friends that i dont really know there, which i know i should go anyway, its her birthday, who cares about being stuck at a table with people you hardly know right?
BUT that is the catch in my opinion, its not her birthday, her birthday is thursday, so instead i told her we'd rather do something nice with her and her boyfriend instead and organised to shout them a counter meal at the local thursday night and maybe we could even have some games of 8 ball afterwards. She liked that idea so hurray! i dont have to sit at a table with ten people i hardly know! (selfish? maybe) but after all this talk of steak and chips, its all i can think about now!i cant wait for thursday evening

my two boys...

Monroes Response

well i rang Monroe after my little rant this morning and explained to them what Autobarn had instructed me to do and yes, this is standard procedure.
"Usually the whole process takes about 3 to 4 weeks" i was told.
So i explained my predicament, where i needed my car to not be sitting on blocks for 3 to 4 weeks and i wasnt really prepared to buy another set up front if i was (eventually) entitled to a replacement set and the nice man on the other end of the phone said when i take the faulty shocks into Autobarn, tell Autobarn to ring Monroe directly and they will organise it then and there, credit Autobarns account with Monroe and i will get handed a replacement set on the spot, which i was really happy to hear!
Now that is customer service :)

Lets all go back to horses..

I bet Silver never had any alternator trouble..
Cars.
Like seriously, arent they a pain in the ass?
First,
the stabiliser bar breaks in the front end of my car, which produces a really loud knocking every time i go over a bump and it sounds as though my wheel is going to fall off. So after freaking out thinking my whole front end suspension has shit itself, scott has a quick look at it and decides its the ball joint. So we buy another one ($24 at Autobarn) spend two hours in 38c heat replacing the old one (which i must say did look a little worse for wear) with the new, only to take it around the block and find the noise still present.
Next day while scotts at work, i go visit a mate for coffee, who says "ill take a look at it" and diagnoses the problem to be the stabiliser bar.
So i ring my mechanic and get a quote, book the car in and $125 later, stabiliser bar isnt a problem, BUT after jacking the car up my mechanic takes a general look and finds the seals in the front shockers are stuffed and theyre leaking! which gives me the shits because we bought brand new Monroe Gas in December for $200 and changed them already. My mechanic says
"Theyre Monroe, I'm not surprised"
which floors me because i thought Monroe were supposed to be really good. Apparantly theres another brand KYB which are better and cheaper.
So now im up for another $200 odd for new shockers when Monroe are meant to be warrantied for 2 years, but other than have my car off the road for as long as it takes to "remove the faulty shockers from my vehicle, take them into Autobarn where i bought them, fill out a form which then gets sent off to Monroe, Monroe then decide whether to approve a replacement part and if im sucessful, send out the replacement part to Autobarn for me to then pick up" thats all the choice i have. Isnt it crap.
Meanwhile Scott ran up the ass of a Lanos by accident on his way home from work the other day, so now we have to straighten out the front end of the telstar and hope we dont get an insurance company letter in the mail.
Fingers crossed x

back from the beach

well we went to the beach. might i say it was really nice, the sunset that greeted us when we got there was awesome! the dogs had a great time and it was nice for me and scott to enjoy each others company without the boy around (rare occurance)
we must thank our little wanna be 4wd. the telstar performed quite good on, well to be truthful, shithouse roads. if it wasnt for the fact that we had this car we wouldnt be doing such bush bashing our other car sits quite low to the ground.
i must give credit to my dog athena, shes the big girl, she is so obedient, does everything she is told, i dont even need to speak to her she even knows hand gestures, i only wish our other dog kimba was so good. kimba does what kimba says. but she is adorable, i have to give her that.
kimba was a found object. middle of nowhere, little lost dog, dog gets a new home. you know the story. but we dont regret taking her in, our other dog seemed to take to the company after being an only dog for so long.
anyway, the beach was great, the drive there and back was nice, it even seems to have cooled down a little here back at home. 32c now apparantly.
i wonder if i can go water my garden now without the sa water police fining me?
signing out

heat. flat out heat.

well we sit here waiting for time to roll on so that we can venture outside. it is 42 on my thermometer in my garden, although the weather people, employed to tell us the temperature, lie and say it is 37 here today. i can vouch that it is not 37 here today. it is bloody hot! which is not nice weather in my opinion. funny, you would think growing up in the heat i would be used to it but i am not. it must be my blood..
so roll on 6:30, by which time it should have cooled down a little *fingers crossed* so that we can throw the dogs in the car, not literally, and drive to the beach.
we could drive 20 minutes and go to a beautiful white sandy beach, with lots of people. or we could drive in th other direction for half an hour and come to what seems to be an abandoned 4 wheeler track in the middle of nowhere. bush bash for 5 minutes and end up at a nice little stretch of coast, not exactly white and sandy, but theres patches of sand, and vegetation, and little sand hills, and water! the most important part!
i want to go swimming, even if it is with two boisterous dogs and a reluctant to get wet boyfriend, at least i will get out of this sweltering heat amongst this cracked earth that surrounds me.
roll on 6:30.

pondering thoughts

Well i am sad to say that my grandma has just passed away. After a valiant battle with the dreaded c. All i can think is how ill never get to hear her voice again, the gentle finnish lilt, a remnant of her origin, and the way she spoke! Now when my grandma spoke, people sat up and listened. She had a certain air of authority about her, in anyone else it would have been arrogance, but she also had a certain grace about her.

A very proud woman, my grandma. Strong and independant. The matriach of the family.

She always curled her hair with curlers at night, and always painted her nails. Thinking back, autumn was my grandmas theme. She always had bronze nails.

Anyway, life is full of regrets and im adding a few more to the count, there are stories now ill never hear and nothing can change that.

So my advice for the day, take the time to get to know those close to you, you never know when they'll be far away. And for the ones that arent close to you, think about whether they should be.
